a Bachelor in Science (Nursing)?
The Bachelor course provides
registered nurses with the opportunity to:
• study core concepts of nursing
which are
concerned with the well being of individual, family and community and
which can be applied to any nursing situation;
• expand theoretical foundations in the physical, biological
and
behavioural sciences relevant to the present day practice of nursing;
• critically analyse structural and functional elements of
health
care systems and using these make constructive contributions in the
development of a health team approach to the delivery of health care in
hospital and community health agencies;
• increase skills in problem solving and appreciate the need

continually recognising and solving problems affecting the delivery of
health care in hospital and community health agencies;

The School of Nursing & Midwifery at
Curtin
University of Technology, like all other Schools within the University,
serves the educational needs for one of the highest number of
international students in Australia. The philosophy of the School of
Nursing & Midwifery at Curtin University of Technology
integrates
the recognition that nursing is an international profession with theory
applicable worldwide. The Bachelor of Science (Nursing) Degree Course
for Registered Nurses delivered in Singapore is unique and equitable
with the education offered to nurses at the Perth, Western Australia
campus and is accreditated by the Singapore Nursing Board.
The one year degree course for registered nurses
consists of eight nursing units and one optional unit. Students may
choose to complete the program full-time or part-time at the
University's Singapore partner facilities at CSM Academy.
Students enrolled in the course are able to take
advantage of the following special features:
• Students are able to obtain an
internationally recognized degree from a prestigious foreign
university.
• Studies may be undertaken in full time
(1 year) or part time (2 year) mode.
• Resident tutor who is a qualified RN is
available
in Singapore, to assists students with academic writing and study
skills.
• Overseas students who undertake full
time study
at CSM Academy in Singapore are eligible for a Singapore student visa
with the opportunity to seek nursing employment upon graduation.

Course
Delivery & Assessment Methods
4 modules are conducted every semester. Full-time students will take
the full 4 modules per semester whilst the part time students will take
2 modules per semester. Delivery of course will have a combination of
classroom lectures, tutorials, online & practical.
Students learning is assessed from a theoretical and clinical practice
perspective. Theory is assessed through problembased learning via
exams, essays, care studies, group work and student presentations.

Recognition of Prior
Learning
| a) |
Recognition of Prior
Learning will be
granted to Nanyang Polytechnic Diploma in Nursing graduates registered
with the Singapore Nursing Board. Applications with this qualification
will be exempted from 1 unit of study - "Behaviourial Reponse to
Illness 234". |
| b) |
Further Recognition of Prior Learning will
also be
granted to Nanyang Polytechnic Diploma in Nursing graduates registered
with the Singapore Nursing Board who also hold an Advance Diploma in
Nursing. Applicants with these qualifications will be exempted from an
additional 1 unit of study - "Nursing Bioscience 244". |

Graduates of a 3-year
Diploma in Nursing recognized by the University and be a registered
nurse in their
home country OR Nanyang Polytechnic Diploma graduates registered with
the Singapore Nursing Board. |

English Language competency as follow:
- Test of English as a Foreign
Language
(TOEFL) with a minimum score of 570 with a TWE (Test of Written
English) or TOEFL iBT of 92 with a minimum score of 23 in Reading,
Listening, Speaking and Writing or 230 computer based OR
- International English Language Testing
System
(IELTS) with a minimum overall band of 6.5, with a minimum of 6.0 each for Reading, Listening, Speaking and Writing
- British Council / GCE "O" Levels or GCE
"A" Levels.

Language entry requirements will be required to attend Curtin's English
Language Bridging Program to be conducted in CSM Academy International
Singapore prior to the start of the degree program as follows:
- Those with IELTS 5.0 / TOFEL 520 (190
computer based) will need to attend a 4 month English Language Bridging
Program
- Those with IELTS 4.5 / TOFEL 475 (152
computer
based) will need to attend a 4 month English Language and a 4 month
English Bridging Program.
- To gain entry into the Bachelor of
Science
(Nursing) Degree Course students must obtain 60% or more in each of the
4 units in the English Language Bridging Program.
