Course Synopsis
Workers in this occupational group work primarily in residential
facilities under direct or regular supervision with clearly defined
organizational guidelines and service plans. These workers carry out
activities related to the maintenance of an individual's personal care
and/ other activities of living. These workers report directly to a
supervisor and are not responsible for other workers. Workers at this
level are required to have an understanding of indigenous culture and
history and to work with local communities in the provision of services.
Graduates of this program will obtain an
Australian National Training Qualification in Certificate III Aged Care
Work awarded by TAFE NSW OTEN and also a MOE approved Certificate
awarded Certificate awarded by CSM Academy International's School of
Service Management.

What Will I Learn?
The following topics are taught for the Cert III in Aged Care Work:
1. Provide support to an older person
2. Provide personal care
3. Orientation to aged care work
4. Support the older person to meet their emotional and psychosocial needs
5. Provide care support which is responsive to the specific nature of dementia
6. Communicate appropriately with clients and colleagues
7. Comply with information requirements of the aged care and community care sectors
8. Participate in safety procedures for direct care work
9. Participate in the work environment
10. Assist with self medication
11. Work effectively with culturally diverse clients and co-workers
12. Faciliate co-operative behaviour
13. Workplace learning residential aged care
14. Senior First Aid

Course Duration
Part-time = 12 months, Full-time = 6 months.
