    The Healthcare sector is poised to become the leading engine of growth as Singapore strives to make the Health Service industry a key component of the economy. Management of the Health Service industry requires a hybrid of Service management skills and knowledge of the peculiarities of healthcare sector.

    As such, we would like to bring to you this programme,

    "The Master of Health Service Management" from Flinders University, which would serve the needs of Managers of the Healthcare sector who could be the Business Managers or Doctors and Nurses involved in the management of their organization, as well as non-healthcare professionals wanting to enter the healthcare industry

     
    Our First Intake!
    The course started with its first intake in September 2002. On a scale of 5, the majority of the students gave the highest rating for the "most relevant to health service managers" and "would recommend it to others" section.


    Why chose Flinders University of South Australia?

    Flinders University was founded in 1966. It has since become an established University with qualifications widely recognized around the world. With a large proportion of the staff in research across a range of fields, the University is recognized nationally and internationally as a leading research university.

    The current student population in Adelaide is drawn from all the continents and more than 70 countries. There are also off-shore courses offered in China, Norway, Singapore and Thailand.

    The Master of Health Service Management course that CSM Academy is offering in partnership with the University, was established in 1995 and is the only specialist postgraduate degree on offer in South Australia in the field of health management.

    The course is run by the Health Service Management Development Unit in the University with a Grant from the South Australian Government and continues to receive financial support from the Department of Human Services in South Australia.


    Who is suitable for this course?

    People in the middle management levels in both the public and private sector, with a variety of professional backgrounds (doctors, nurses, allied health, business managers).

    People who want an advancement in their career or a change in career, for employment in Executive Level management positions in the thriving healthcare sector.

     


    Entry Requirements

    A Bachelor's degree in any discipline and not less than 2 years' postgraduate experience. Candidacy have to be approved by the Board of Faculty. In some cases, subject to special conditions, the Board may accept candidates without such qualifications if they can show satisfactory evidence of fitness for candidature.


    Will my degree be recognised?

    This programme is accredited by the Australian College of Health Service Executives and the Royal Australian College of Medical Administrators.

    The degree awarding authority for students studying in Australia and for students in Singapore will be FLINDERS UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH AUSTRALIA.

    Flinders University is particularly concerned that the program offered in Singapore is fully equivalent to that offered in Australia.

    The same entrance criteria and assessment criteria will be used in the two countries. For this reason the content, course structure and contact hours have been kept identical. By using teaching staff who also teach and work in Australia, the maintenance of identical standards will also be assured.

    The use of adult learning processes will ensure that the core content is related to students' actual work experience and that the course has relevance to Singapore students and the Singapore health system.

    What are the Topics offered in Singapore?
    Most topics have a general management or business component to which a health perspective or health specific issues have been added. Eight of the following topics will be offered by distance education over any 4 successive semesters:

    Flexibility of the Course

    Graduate Certificate in Health (Health Service Management)
    - Completing 3 of the coursework topics. (18 units). Topics will be decided by the University.


    Graduate Diploma in Health Service Management
    - Completing 6 of the coursework topics. (36 units). Topics will be decided by the University.


    Masters of Health Service Management
    - All the nine topics totaling a unit of 54.

    Support will be given via University web-based teaching system and reading materials will be provided both in hardcopy and via the online system.


    Course Fees

    The Master of Health Service Management will be run as a four semester course, where two subjects will be taken each semester, with the last semester having the project module. The entire course is one and a half-year( 18 months) part-time.

    Total Course Fees: S$21,600 (before GST at prevailing rates )

    S$2,400 per subject (before GST at prevailing rates) Fees are payable prior to the commencement of each semester.

    S$50 (before GST at prevailing rates is applicable with each application form).
